    Hello me again am wondering how do I test what the problem with my electric windows ? The problem is the windows go up and down no probs, but the window don't drop when I open the doors I have been told it could be the striker plate! How do I test that the striker plate is the problem ? Please help !

    Do the interior lights go on and off with opening and closing of the doors ?

    No mate if I have them on the seting that they come on when you open the door they stay on ! or some times stay off !

    Then that answers your question - The door in question is the one with the broken switch.

    It's either behind the door latch thats on the body of the car, or inside the door somewhere.
    Hopefully someone else can say where inside the door it is.

    Later models have the switch built in with the door striker plate, as shown here, http://autorepair.about.com/library/...l606i.htm?rd=1

    Early ones have a microswitch on the door catch mechanism. Like here, http://www.frankies-bmw.com/3series/...icroswitch.php
