Been wanting remote for a while now and have bought a kit with alarm etc off the bay.

The module appears to have two wires which connect to the unlock signal and two which splice into the lock signal. My understanding is that when I press the remote, these wires will become live and trigger the appropriate response from the car's central locking module.

Where is the module and any idea what colour wires I should be looking for?

    Wiring diagram might help also.

    regards to all

Ok - its the yellow plug behind the glove box. Just need to find the right wires for the open and close. Anyone?

Well must be a lot of different control units. Looking at my picture and after using a pencil tester and locking and unlocking doors with a key from inside the car, the third pin from the right on the bottom becomes positive when the door is unlocked and the second pin from the right on the bottom becomes positive when the door is locked.

I will splice into these wires with the appropriate wires from the new remote module.

Will let you know how I get on.

Ok spent a few hours on this, too long... Alarm all sorted, power to module, blinkers light up and alarm chirps when unlock, lock pressed (sets the dogs into spastic mode I can tell you - wife not pleased)

Buuuut , no cigar with the locks. The unit has a 1/2 second, or 5 second pulse on when the buttons are pressed, currently on 1/2 second.

Not had much of a response, has anyone ever wired up an after market lock system and can help?

Any responses, even encouragement very welcome

hi for the remote central locking find the yellow 12pin plug on your ZKE module, and check if theres any wire's coming from Pin numbers 4 and 17 if not your need to conect to these two sockets. What i done was head to the local braker and got this conector from there and took two of the metel conector for this. My e36 318ise was a bugger to sort but once i located was ok. There are pics on my profile of my sniper x1 install, if u need any more help pm me

    thanks hope this helps

thanks Chazz - yeah normally pretty good at electrics, but this one has stumped. The module is providing a 1/2 positive pulse when the lock and unlock button pressed. I located the pins that lit up my pencil tester when the key was turned in the door and have spliced into them, but not working.

From memory, there was nothing in 4. I take it pin 4 is fourth from top left and then continue counting along bottom row from left again?

Grateful for any advice mate - pm if can help further...

Got it Chazz and Mess - like everyone said, pins 4 and 17 are vacant. I took off cover, connected up the loom and when 12 volt applied to those vacant holes, car locks and unlocks - magic.

Oh yes, pin 4 is fourth from right and 17 is the one below it.

Finish this later and do some photos of the job ...

Hi there, I have wired un an after market kit. It is wired into 4 and 17 of the yellow plug, but it is only locking and unlocking the drivers door and boot. When I use the key in the passengers door it locks/unlocks the passengers door, drivers door, petrol flap and boot. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, the rear passengers door is closed and locked, and will not unlock. I have taken the door card off and pulled the metal connection, but this is not helping.
