I need the ecu part number for my E36 318i Auto gearbox, with an M43 engine as I currently do not have one.

Can anybody tell me where I can find out the correct Bosch or BMW part number.

    Cheers in advance

Thanks Ronnie, I have checked the links and they give a BMW part number, is there anywhere that I can find the Bosch number?

The problem with the car is that it will not rev until the engine warms up.
When it is first started it wont rev above 1500rpm, as it warms the more revs it will do.
It shows an cam shaft sensor fault but the sensor has been checked and apparently nothing wrong with it. The timing and compression are both fine (the timing was 3 teeth out but now been fixed)

I was misled by the Polish owner into thinking there was nothing wrong with it, obviously he was a complete C**T

Its been in one garage for 4 months (£1600 bill later) and into a Bosch specialist in Hitchin( £200)

Replacing the ecu is the only suggestion I've had since hence the thread

I have since have a nervous breakdown and attmpted to take my own life, the car being the major factor in the equation.
I now have no money and now an untaxed and uninsured car sat on my driveway.
If anyone can offer the answer to what is wrong with this car I will pay them £100 (borrowed from parents)

    Thanks

The problem is when the engine is cold, the warmer it getss the higher it will rev. If you try and drive it before it has warmed sufficiently, it just want rev high enough, so struggles to hit 20mph.
When you floor the gas before it warms it sounds like its misfiring, is impossible to drive until its been left 15-20mins.
Once its warmed I have driven it on the motorway and at again when it hits about 4500-5000rpm it misfires. Its almost as if its being limited.

you say the car has been in the garages, what work has been completed? and y do you think its the auto ecu as this would not cause the engine to misfire, i would say that the torque converter could be the problem

If not faults codes are being found and it feels like its being restricted I would start with the simple stuff mate. First thing I would be checking is for a blocked cat or collapsed exhaust box. If the gasses cant escape it will cause it to back pressure and feel like the car is being restricted....

The Ecu that is in it has clearly come from a scrap yard (its all beat up) The first garage checked everything, apparently it gives out a cam shaft sensor fault code. The sensor has been checked the wiring has been checked and even when reset it still gives that code.

Not sure about the exaust/muffler, I'll check with the mechanic

Check the exhaust. The last one I did with the same symptom was a 318is. The rear box had collapsed inside and was restricting the car....
It would rev over 3k. Cats are common for breaking up as well...
