hiya guys again, lol. straight to the piont on this one save time, last night on the way home from work i noticed that my horn stopped working. so this morning i checked the fuse and horns them self and all is ok, i removed the relay and used a multi meter to test for curent when the horn switch is press and all ok. then i noticed how the horn worked sometimes when i moved the steering wheel from left to right. any ideas!!! I did think about putting a new push switch in place where the cigaret light is but without knowing if this will be mot worthy or not

    cheers cazz

There is a contact point that you will need to check on the back of the steering wheel slip ring, also check the connections beneath the horn push itself in the centre of the steering wheel

PS is this the same car that you have listed in you car specification drop down box? There seems to be a few discrepancies in the details you have listed

Have you checked your slip ring on the steering wheel? hmm also is it an airbag on non-airbag and what type of slip ring do you have? I don't think makes to much of a difference but it would help us direct you to the next step.

As far as I know there is only two types on the E36 (someone please update me if not correct) see pics below.

    Older type:

    Newer one:

'a friend had an intermittent horn problem only to find after several hours that his dogs hair had somehow wrapped itself round the slip ring and interfered with the contact point lol'

Let us know what's what and we can help you from there
