Problem has now been resolved. Located the alarm control box and unplugged it, lights began to flash when hazard button clicked. To resolve the problem I snipped the wire which sends the indicator signal. Someone has already bypassed half the system so it wasnt in use and I guess the permanent indicator thing was to say the alarm wanted attention because it was faulty.

What colour was the wire you snipped?

It was just a black wire from the alarm box, nothing to do with the cars original wiring loom. Car starts and indicates fine as well.
