Right here goes... bit of a strange set of questions
I've aquired a set of Astra GTE digital clocks and i'm attempting to fit them to the E36 to see what they look like. I know this won't be to everyones taste, but i like them and would love to get them working
I've trawled the net, getting wiring diagrams together etc..
just test fitting them now with scotchloks just to see if i can get them working
Hooked the clocks up to some power, they light up and run through the test sequence as they should
I've hooked the rev counter and speedo up and have a couple of issues:
Rev counter: Reads about 50% more than it should. I expected this due to the E36 being a 6 pot and the astra only a 4. Would it be possible to put an inline resistor in to drop the reading to where it should be?
Speedo: Hooked up to the correct wire, when i'm doing 20, it's reading 8 on the clocks. I believe that the E36 speed sensor is mounted on the back of the diff. I have the Astra transducer, but wouldn't know how to splice them together!! Do you think a small bit of ciruit board with the ability to adjust and amplify the E36 signal would help? Then with a bit of setting up, the signal would match what the clocks need?
Obviously, there will be some other issues regarding oil pressure signal, fuel gauge may need a resistor or amplifier, but if the speedo and rev counter work, i'm sure i could figure the rest out
Any input would be appreciated
