    Be prepared. If the problem is that water got into the DME then you should take precautions as it can just as easily happen again. Talking from experience

    I was only saying that to one of my work colleagues yesterday that i need to make sure that i go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

    hi peeps im in desperate need of a new ECU the one that we had sourced was the wrong one im in need of a Bosch 0 261 200 413 ASAP as i need my car for work and busing it and training it is not fun and not cheap.

    The e46 (and probably others) also has another point of entry for water. Not into the bulkhead, but definitely into the cabin area. Water apparently can (and does) get into the door area below the screen. The rubbery membrane that is fixed to the door (between the door card and the door itself) acts not only as a seal against noise but also as a water defence panel. If you have any work done in the door and the rubberised panel is damaged, get it replaced (around 15 quid). Save yourself getting wet carpets and steamy windows.

    Fantastic cheers mate ill get that done as well haha, dont want it to happen again, Its taking me long enough to sort this one out, am having to resorting to getting the ECU repaired, Have found a few but by the time i have phoned up they have sold them haha.

    Have a look at these. You may fancy trying to recover the unit yourself. Nothing to lose if it's junk right now

    316 won't start

    Hey peeps,

    Changed the ECU this morning and the car now runs flawlessly, this weekend i will be checking out to make sure that the same thing does not happen again.
