    Hi just got 93' E36 coupe and having problems with electrics. checked the fuses all ok. the probs are: sunroof wont work at all, took the motor out its workin fine. interior light wont come on only when switched on, central locking locks doors but wont unlock passenger door, im using key only coz alarm is just factory fitted and off. cig lighter dead aswell . so any ideas lads?

    check the wiring loom in the door shuts and boot- look for breaks.

    Sounds a bit like the problems related with the comfort relay on earlier E36 like your own. Have a search for "comfort relay".

    Have you tried the allen key in the boot toolkit for the sunroof? If the motor works, it's possible that the roof has siezed up.

    Interior light - cleaning the contacts can help, but it might be a switch in the door lock that isn't isn't telling it a door is open.

    Passenger door lock not working - sounds like the central locking motor is dead.

    tried sunroof with allen key its workin ok ive checked that theres no power comin in , central lockin is strange coz passenger door opens but wouldnt lock, petrol cap does and boot wouldnt do anything. the interior light works only when i press the button to switch on and sometimes when turn off the car. will check relay thanks for advises!!!

    oh and question on early e36s do the windows suppose to move when openin the door? coz mine dont but theres no gaps when closed.

    if yours is the coupe, then they are ment to move up and down when the door is opened and closed.
