1993 318 i no starter crank without pressing door locks down and then up with key off. If I try this remedy with key still on it wont work. maybe has to do with alarm system, the car build date is 04-93. Does anyone know which alarm system it has if any? At least I can start the car and drive it to a dealer now! Thanks

That will be from the deadlock wire i imagine, the car seems to be dead (double locking) locking itself, and this sends a high 12v signal to the mini immobiliser.

If the doors are deadlocked, or there is a PIN code in the On Board Computer, or the auto shifter isn't in park or neutral, it locks out the starter motor.

Having to fiddle with the door locks seems to be pointing that way.

What you might need to do is track down the wire that goes into this relay from the door locks, and cut it.

Once cut, it can't send the inhibit signal, and it'll start again.
More indepth, you could try and figure out what is going on with the door locks, and why they think they are dead locked.

Does all of your central locking work? Maybe if one was jammed on the deadlock position, it will be sending the immobilise signal.

They used to use the old serpi star alarms. I have fitted many alarms to bmw and I dont think I have ever saw serpi star rigged up to immobilise the car as the ews is a cat 2 equivalent and theres no easy way around it.

is it manual or auto? try roling down a hill and bump starting the car if its auto the starter interupt relay should be behind the glovebox

the starter wire colour is thick black yellow

I replied to ur other thread look at that for a rough guide to check power from key and through ews module (if they were fitted that early)
