Have you checked for power to the sunroof?

Is the sunroof itself stuck? Does it operate maually with the allen key from the toolkit, into the centre of the motor?

If it does, then as far as i know, it will be one of 4 things:

    Comfort relay
    Motor
    Motor Relay
    Switch

As STK says, check for power at the motor when the switch is operated, if power is getting to it, the motor could be fried, if no power, then start tracing back through the system.

If you suspect that the switch is at fault, replace it with one from the window system (if you have one in there that matches up) just to test that.

If you need any component for the repair, let me know, for a small donation to the forum and the price of postage, i can supply anything you need

If it hadn't been used for a while, i can imagine that it would get stiff/seize up.

Now it's working, have a bit of a squirt about with some WD40 or some silicone lubricant, just to keep it sliding nice

ooops sunroof was open yesterday and then wouldn close so i closed it by hand the next time in the car it opened and closed :s so is the most likely thing going to be the comfort relay ??

The comfort relay controls the windows and sunroof so if the windows are fine I would have thought it more likely to be a sunroof problem. Fuse 1 supplies the sunroof so as an outside bet, make sure the fuse is seated firmly.
If you get access to the sunroof control unit in the roof you could check you have 12v at the red/violet wire when the roof is not working. If you have, the problem lies in the control unit.
