    Hi Guys,

New to the forum and this is my first BMW. I'm currently living in Australia but am originally from Bournemouth.

I've recently purchased an E36 and unfortunately the central locking is playing up. The issue i'm having is that it locks it's self ok but then unlocks it's self a few seconds later.

This to me says that there is a dirty/faulty sensor in one of the 4 doors. Am i heading in the right direction by taking the door cards off and inspecting the sensors?

if anyone has had this problem before please let me know how you fixed it and any little tips about the process.

    thanks in advance.

    Stu

Also should mention that occasionally the interior light comes on when i'm driving and doesn't go off when i shut my door. This is only very occasionally though. could the door switch be the cause of the central locking playing up too?
