    Hi all!
My central locking and alarm has started playing up.
I have the 3G Mk1 alarm, had the car for nearly 6 years and its always been fine up until the other day when i pressed the button on the fob,it just lets out a constant very weak beep.It wont stop unless i press the button to unlock it again.
I have to lock it using the key now but the rear driver side door wont lock i have to remember to lock it by hand before i get out, strangely it will unlock with the rest of the doors?
Both of these probs started at exactly the same time.
I did fit a new battery about 3-4 months ago and it was ok until the other day?
I looked through the alarm guide and it said about the boot lid wiring but everything is good there as i repaired that a few years ago and always keep an eye on it.
It also said about the central locking being earthed in the passenger footwell and its prone to corrosion, before i start pulling the carpets and bits of trim off where abouts should i be looking?
Obviously these 2 problems are related so any ideas are much appreciated.
    Thank you.

Could be an electrical fault in the alarm causing the weak siren, for example water in the siren, failing grounding or a dead siren.
