    I have a 1991 E34 manual 525i (NOT 16V)

The check control is on. The battery drain is aproximately 5 hours. The head lights go out but tap the fuse box and they come back on. The speedo occasionally sticks at 130 mph and the rev counter goes off the clock. None of the gauges work ie fuel or temperature. Seems like hot or loose wire under the fuse box. (checked but no faults found).

I do not know which relay does what. Please help andyh.

IIRC there's a light control module in the fuse box, let me see what I can find for you

See here http://new.scribd.com/doc/413516/Hay...mw-e30-e28-e34, page 173, section 12.5, it documents the instruments can play up from the SI(Service Indicator) board batteries failing.
See here about the light control module and some relay info http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Mainte...trical/LKM.htm
