Just got my 525i and everythings ok except one of the doors don't lock! Manually or electrically... is the lock motor rusted? it has been in a pound for many months.
Any suggestions so I can get cracking
and is it easy to get the door card off a BMW? it's easy on a Punto xD
    cheers

    rear door or front door?
Its easy enough to take the door card off-there are a couple of hex bolts under the door handle then its just carefully prising off the card by the clips-I would think the solenoid has siezed and needs replacing.
It happened to my rear door that it wouldn't open took the card off and saw that the locking mech had gone over the wrong way around-just pushed it over the right way and has been good ever since-I assume it would be similar on the E34 as the E36

when i cycle the lock usin the key, you can feel the lock stick thing (lol, what are they called?!) move up and down but not enough to lock the door. thanks for the info. I hope mines gone over the wrong way round aswell !

Fixed! reading the bentley manual helped !
the lock become out of sync because of manual key opening. Just had to hold handle and turn key to lock doors like usual (but the door that doesn't lock still didn't lock) then you turn it 45 degrees more! then it locked! synchronised now
