hello folks,im new to the forum and am in dire need of some advice on how to solve a problem im having, trying to connect a toad ai606 to my 89,320i cab.
im told that for the alarm window closure to function in harmony with the the
bmw's electric window curcuit, involves some re-wiring of the two brown wires
on the back of each electric window switch plug, without this, your pride and joy will catch fire!,trust me,i saw the flames!!!.anyways, what i need to know is,what do i do with each end of the the two brown wires, which is now 4 brown wires because i have cut both of these, please also understand that i
am not an auto electrician, hence the flames, and would need any instructions
in a language i can understand,i get very, confused when people start talking about common this and ground that.if you said to me, take the brown wire from pin 4 on the plug, cut it and connect the end that comes from the switch and connect it to an earthing point on the vehicles body and then, for the sake of arguement, take the other end of the cut wire and connect it to pin 85 on the relay,i would be able to understand that. just for the record,i know that it is not just a case of reconnecting the brown wires back to their
original positions, this causes smoke and flames. many thanks for taking the time to read this post and any help/advice is most welcome.cheers,dodge.

The way that normaly works is that you have 4 wires from your window closure interface , 2 wires for each window, that is if your only dealing with two windows. You then need to find the up window wire and cut it and connect 2 of your interface wires to them, see inclosed file it may help.

cheers mate, yes, the diagram is most useful however, are the wires on the closure interface that i need to cut brown? or am i looking for different colour
wires at the interface? also,am i to understand that it is the brown wires that i have cut on the switch plug which need to be connected to the wires(that im yet to identify) on the closure interface?.

    thanks once again,dodge.

Do you have the instructions for the Toad unit? What makes you think it's the brown wires?
What colour wire/wires do you have coming fron the Toad unit for the windows?

Like gildersol said, what are the colours of all the wires on the interface? and are any of them thick wires? if you connect up your power, earth and the wire from the alarm that triggers the interface you should be left with the window wires.

As far as I know there is just one wire on that alarm which is set up to operate the function you're looking for. That's why i asked if you have the instructions and why you are looking at the brown wires.

Waheyyy!! I revived an old thread..

Just want to know if dodgepot got this sorted? I'm installing a toad ai606 in my e36 cab. It has one white wire coming out giving a negative pulse for 20secs (i can increase it if i want). But would anyone know where this wire should be connected?

I've tried pulsing the swicth that lifts all four windows with neg and pos but nothing happens.

    Any help would be appreciated

Did you touch an earth on to the white/yellow wire at the switch. I would have thought that would close the windows. Not sure if it will do the job with the alarm.

I will go have a try now gildersol. I've been trying with the ignition off. I can change the pulse off the white wire to positive if required by switching it through a relay.

    back in 5mins.

I've spliced into the yellow/white wire and it does raise the windows but only while the key is in the ignition or AC position.

Do I need to power something else?
