ive recently fitted some halo rings to my e30 to use as sidelights, they work fine but when the ignition or engine is on the headlights come on dim with the sidelights, i have removed the original sides altogether, was just wondering if there is a way of stopping this from happening as its the actual headlight bulb that comes on!?... any help would be much appriciated

Sounds like you've crossed a wire or summit. Check all your wiring

Sounds like a bad earth to me

How have you earthed your angel lights? Have you used the existing wiring or have you gone straight to the body?

Didn't cars in the late eighties feature dim-dip sidelights as part of the regs at that time. Seem to remember lots of cars had it.....

yea my boss said something on similar lines to that, like theres a resistor of some kind in line with the headlight wiring but i cant find anything, yet to check behind the dash though but im not in any rush now as some idiot woman decided to put her car in reverse instead of 1st at some traffic lights and jump back into me and she wasnt even fit!lol so im needing new lights now lol ! ...thanks

Sounds like you have a dim/dip relay, headlights come on at one tenth power when the sidelights and ignition are on. Relay will be in the fusebox, just remove it.

there is no dim/dip relay in this model as that stopped in 87 ive been told but i took the headlights out and behind ther passenger side one there is a resistor pack
i simply cut the supply to these and the sidlights come on without the headlights so all sorted till my next problem lol thanks for replys
