    Hi,

I am thinking of fitting the red lights to the door so that when its opened cars behind can see you, also fitting white lights to the bottom of the doors so that when the door is opened its easier to miss stepping in dog do do.

Would this be a bad idea due to the age of the wiring?

My car electrical mechainc seems to think this is feasible.

    Any comments appreiciated.

I see no problems in fitting puddle lighting and door safety lights, you can quite easily run a wire through with the other door wires and fuse the wire in case you have any problems down the line. If you obtain some LEDS then you can have some nice bright puddle lighting,
