I recently bought a Z3 from a local Saltford independent garage. At the time of the test drive i noticed a knocking through the brake pedal and wandering through the steering. The dealer said they would service the braking system throughout and give the car a new MOT before i collected it. On Friday, 500 miles later coming off of the motorway the brakes failed and the car literally flipped full circle. When it finally stopped both the front wheels were smoking blue hot, particularly the offside.

Now the dealer is disputing that the brake failure was his fault & is covered under the three month warranty.

So how exactly can one show that the brakes were not checked correctly prior to sale and at the time of his garage issuing the MOT?

I have uploaded photos of the brake discs as there are more people experienced in this matter on here Z3OFFSIDE1.jpgZ35NEARSIDE.jpgthan myself

sounds like the calipers were seized on and over heated the brakes whether that is covered under the warranty i would not know

Yes - I agree that the callipers were seized on as the discs are warped to hell, but surely this would have been picked up on the fresh MOT ?

i guess I'll just have to phone the VOSA to know for certain, but it surprises me that this has happened so soon after being tested.
