have got really harsh vibrations when braking again - so new disks and pads AGAIN tomorrow.

    Fingers crossed!

Is this car EVER going to stop costing me stupid amounts of cash?

JP, be sure it is the disks and pads...do as Ronnie says and check for control arm bush and tie rod play, otherwise you will be changing the brakes for nothing.

whats the best way to check that?

I will ask the garage doing the disks tomorrow to check.

FYI - I should be getting the money back on this first set of brakes and pads as they have last no time at all.. Turns out bosch suck!

I am in the shop right now sat on their free internet waiting for my brakes to be done, also asked them to check out the RTABS and LCABS whilst it is on the ramps.. I think I can see an end in sight to this "throwing parts at the car" malarchy! :-)

FYI. They came back to me and said "brakes are fine, it's the ball joins - we'll do you some new ones" they did, and it's sorted... yey! :-)

Just need to sort the clutch and the vibrating at speed and this car is 100%... then time for boost :-)

Happy its all sorted. Worn ball joints are a common problem and dangerous if not replaced when worn...

    hi,

    E46 330d.

Lotta brake issues like those mentioned in this thread. Have been chucking discs at this thing.

I have always sat with foot on the brakes at the lights & with other cars - never had a problem but am seriously considering this as a root cause.
Now I just need to get the current back discs to be replaced under warranty (the new ones are only 1000 miles old and are starting to judder) and I will give this technique a try...

Also, by way of a little journey, this is a summary of work done (only on brakes). . . . . . . .

    Calipers, replaced and ok.
Control arms front replaced and ok.
Rear "lolipop" front control arm bushes replaced and ok.
Multiple disc sets replaced front and back at 2000/3000 mile intervals.
    Front drop-links changed and ok.
Front anti-roll bar bushes changed and ok.
Latest back discs are BMW discs... yes.. the expensive stuff... :S

Anyone with any advice would be appreciated.
