As mentioned in your other thread it could be a number of things other than subframe mounting points, could be subframe bushes, diff bushes, propshaft rubber or guibo, diff bolt(s) loose, even a rear trailing arm bush, all things you can check out, the e46's are a good car but after time do suffer from the rear bushes getting weak/perished.

Can I jump on this thread or is it way too old? lol Happy to start another

I get the same noise....worried about this subframe / floor issue. Indy had a look but couldnt find anything with anything (bushes, donut etc) only front control arm bushes worn they said - but unrelated.

Have they missed something? what should I do?

Get the car up on ramps and check for any cracks or tears around the subframe mount

Agreed, if you don't have a ramp just drive one wheel up a curb (much much safer than jacking up one side) and wriggle underneath with a good torch, the diff has a metal frame around it (the sub frame) and bolts on to the car body above the back of the diff. Tearing of the metal should be pretty obvious.

Looking at your car specs, your 2003 model won't be affected. You have a modified subframe.

Never heard of anything above 2001 having a ripped subframe.
