Do you have standard brakes at the moment?

Have you considered a refresh i.e. new fluid, braided hoses, upgraded discs and pads which is what I am considering. There are a lot of different makes of disc what have people on here tried?

Brembo (several variations from this manufacturer)
    EBC
    Nitrac
    Black Diamond
    Red Dot
    Tarox

i used tarox g88 40 groove discs on my previous car with tarox strada plus pads and braided hoses, the difference over the standard setup was incredible, i highly recommend it as a cheaper option to upgrading calipers...

    what was your previous car?

I am not familiar with the pads you mention, I have used ferrodo DS2500, they are very good and I would use them before anything else.

it was a 2.2 litre Vectra SRi '01 plate.

it weighed around 300 kg heavier than my 318iS, so if I go for the same set up on the beamer I should notice even better results.

the discs were IIRC £200 for the front pair
£65 for the stainless steel lines
    strada plus pads were £82

I had standard set up on the rear (apart from the lines).

oh and i bought the whole set up from europerformance.co.uk

You need to run group buys past the forum owners before starting one..!!

Theres a lot of money to be collected for a BBK group buy so it will need to be carefully thought out and discussed with us/me before it can go ahead

    To the OP.

I think the Tarox kits would be nice, but I doubt you'll get enough interested people for any real discount.

As some other posters have stated, before doing anything, give your existing brakes a refresh - change the fluid, have the system professionally pressure bled and check for sticking calipers, etc.

After (or during) that, consider some braided brake hoses and decent brake pads (EBC redstuff etc).

Then, for 325 / 328 owners (maybe more) you have two cheap and easy OEM upgrade paths, either:
    • E46 328 Carriers and (300mm) Rotors.
    • E46 330 Calipers, Carriers and Rotors (320mm).

The E46 328 option retains your calipers, and will fit under 16" wheels.
The E46 330 option replaces the calipers as well and requires 17" wheels. It's also advisable to replace your master cylinder with one from an E36 M3, otherwise you'll have a longer travel pedal with the new calipers.

Good pads, discs, braided hoses and caliper carriers can all be bought for less than £300. A Tarox kit would run to at least a 1000 - possibly double that.
