hi folks, i'm thinking about lowering my bmw. i bought it as a comfy daily driver so i don't really want to mess it up. i was considering just a small 30-40mm drop on just springs. in the past i've lowered cars by more on just springs which made it a really bumpy ride. i know that i'm prob best going for shocks and springs but trying to save some pennies.

so basically what i'm asking is, with only a small drop in just springs will it make the ride really bumpy. i'm also running e46 17's with 205/45's will these rub?

if i'm honest mate i think mine isn't far off yours as it is. i know the suspension on it was replaced a couple of years ago from parts from euro car parts or somewhere like that. think the guy that sold me the car said something about m3 ride height or something? that make any sense to you?

did you both lower your cars right down on just springs or did you use coil overs off shocks and springs?

It all depends on the make of springs u use mate, diferent springs have different rebound rates etc so tbh a good quality spring shouldnt affect your ride comfort too much and any drop in suspension should reduce your body roll which will make it tighter in the corners. ive used a few different makes on different cars ie my megane is sitting -40 mil with spax shocks and springs and i need to visit a ciropracter after any long drive and my 100nx is -40mil gmax and is great the bimmer is still standard atm but im gonna give a cheap pair of coilovers a go first to see how they are.
