Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on compatible BMW OEM Brakes which are larger?

    For example, E46 swap to E70/E71 X5/X6.

    What components need swapped?

    Any complications?

    Master Cylinder etc.

    Thanks.

i can not see why you want change for bigger one with 1800cc engine ... but if you really want have better brakes go for stoptech ,ap,brembo insted changing for bmwX(if you fit bigger discs you have to put at least 18 inch alloys for brakes clearance)

Could always fit the front brakes from a 330i/330d. Rears would be an awful lot more work. Would need a 17" or 18" wheel to clear though.

I have answered my own question, E46 BMW stock brakes are generally poor because only recently have BMW equipped callipers with more than ONE piston

as such, upgrading brakes for anything other than OM/OEM is pointless unless you spend another £1k getting an uprated brake kit (2k for all-round) which will get you pretty decent braking but what for? unless you decided to spend another 3-5k on upgrading the engine and other parts it seems a very pointless exercise
