A bit late seeing this thread but personally, from my previous experience with Mintex brake pads on a previous 325i and a modified Supra TT, the Mintex pads were rubbish!

Whilst I would happily say that they are adequate without a doubt, by no means have I been impressed with the Mintex standard, extreme or racing pads that I have tried. Another over hyped crap product that can't match the likes of Ferodo, Poterfield and Endless brake pads when it comes to actually performing and living upto the hype.

Only want a nice, oe standard brake setup. I don't intend on tracking it and if I do, I will get some ferrodo pads.

Forget Mintex then, IMO they are below par in every sector.

I have had ATE power discs with ATE or Textar brakes pads from Eurocarparts. Front set was about £69 for the discs, about £25 for the pads.

Now whilst I don't race between traffic lights, but regularly hit max speeds an drive at seriously high speeds on country lanes, I do brake very hard repeated and frequently.

The ATE (OE equivalent spec) has been on my car for about 25,000miles and they still have plenty of life left! no warping/juddering issues etc etc. Superb!

IMO if you want decent OE, go to GSFCP or Eurocarparts and get something like ATE/Brembo discs (inexpensive) with Textar pads.. cheap, superb quality and performance with no faffing about.

In my opinion and from my experience, we would always recommend a Mintex product ahead of an EBC product. Mintex is manufactured by TMD Friction - OE suppliers to the majority of the automotive industry.

If you wanted to go 1 better again, try Textar pads in combination with Brembo Max / Aftermarket discs. This will provide a more than adequate friction couple for what you need. Textar pads are the Premium product from TMD Friction, excepting the High Performance and Racing products from Pagid RS and Mintex Racing.

    James.

Would you have any. suggestions for pads to be used with standard discs for a track day?
Also, does anyone know the differences in size of discs for the 3-series E46 range? Just curious. I understand my 330i may have larger discs... ?

    they do...325mm
are you going to regular track days or just once in a while?
v3 redstuff can do road and track...but yellowstuff or ferodo ds2500 are better if there is plenty of heat 1st.
often overlooked is the brake fluid though...regular changes help no end when tracking the car

    Hi Mark
Two or Three track days a year prob. I guess there'll be an element of trial and error on your pad suggestions dependant upon my driving style/ track / weather etc etc
Good point re: brake fluid (just had all fluids changed).
