    Hi all,

Got a 325D 08 Coupe M-Sport. Past few weeks I've started to get an annoying screaching almost metalic sound comming from the rear when accelerating from low speeds.

    further investigation reveals the following.....

    a) I dont get this noise when pressing the breaks

    b) I don't get this noise when rolling (foot off breaks and accelerator low speeds)

    c) I only get this noise when I press the accelorator when comming out of a corner for example or a standing start.

Its was extremely annoying and noticeable when travelling through a multiple story car park where I guess the sounds bounces around a lot more.

I took it to BMW and at the time I thought the breaks were sticking, but they couldn't find any fault, but at the same time I dont think they even bothered to test drive it.

Anyone experienced anything like this or have an idea as to what it might be ?

    cheers,

Is it like a high pitched whistle? And for anyone who thinks it's squeal from the brakes...it's not

I wouldn't say whistle (like a turbo). I can only describe it as a metalic squeeking. The sound you sometimes hear when someone applies the brakes, but in this instance i'm not touching the breaks. Only getting when accelerating from low speeds, like out of a tight bend.

That's what I meant...a type of screeching whistle. Even when you slow down to stop, it makes this noise until you apply the brakes. Correct?

Not exactly, its only when I accelerate from slow speeds I get this schreeching. I dont get it slowing down with or without the breaks.

As soon as I touch the accelerator from slow speeds (ie 1st or 2nd gear), I get the screech.

So what your saying is you only get the screach under load! I would take it to bmw again, but this time insist on a drive out with a machanic! if there is any push back, then make sure you are telling them the fault in a busy show room! they will soon sort you out!
That said bmw have always been good to me, they have looked at my car thoughly a couple of times, and test drove it, all for free, and its only a 2000 model.

Possibly the brake pad wear sensor. They touch the disc all the time and we used to get all sorts of noises from them. If you want to eliminate that just pull it out and tie it up out of the way. Then drive it for a day or so.
