2007 e90 320D owner here. Basically I've had a remap done and am getting 194bhp and 411nm of torque and this was tested on a dyno. The car feels good to drive except that I don't quite feel connected to the road. My front wheels don't feel planted and I don't get immediate feedback through my steering wheel. I drove a friends 335D and obviously it's faster but it handled so much better and felt properly connected to the road.
My budget for upgrading the car, which is a completely vanilla 320D, is 2,500 euros ( I guess just over 2,000 quid). So I'm down to 2,000 euros after the remap. What do you guys think would be the next step? I was looking at the BMW Performance suspension kit. I'm on 16 inch winter tyres at the moment.
Would the performance kit improve the whole feel of the car? Would I be able to get 335D handling whilst obviously not having 335D speed. Should I go for another suspension kit? I was advised to get an LSD - but is my car fast enough to warrant an LSD? Shouldn't the suspension be upgraded first?
So is it true that the best two upgrades that a driver will notice most are remap and suspension upgrades? Am I missing something?
