Hi guys I am new to this forum, i have a 2007 118d with 55k miles on it. About 2000 miles ago I got a yellow warning brake light on the dash board, this was accompanied by the yellow light on the dashboard for vehicle inspection on ramps, my service indicators where ok except for rear brakes which read -----. The fault was random and occasionally on, I could switch it off by turning power off after I’d driven for 20 mins.and the rear brake service then read 21000. I tried to reset this hoping it was just a fault, and suddenly my brakes went to 6000, and this ate away in 1500 miles with me consciously been steady with the brakes. A 20 mile journey at 55mpg would use 150 of these miles.

I am now in red brake light and red car on ramp territory, but no deterioration in performance. Today after fiddling round the back of the drivers side rear wheel arch I found a black cable with a blue and white wire protruding that look like it should be connected to something. Is this my brake pad sensor disconnecting, and the cause of the issue? My CC ID code reads 71. Any advice much appreciated.

Does the cable you found have a little plastic lump at the end of it ?

The brake pad sensor is a pretty simple setup, two cables running to that so called plastic lump, if the pads wear down too much the disc will touch the sensor and trip it making the light come on.

Hi, Nothing on end of it. Ill look more in daylight, but the end of the cable I found is just a blue and white wire protruding from the black cable. It looks like something should be attached, but was cut / fallen off.
