Hi i've seen that the e46 compact steering rack would be a upgrade for my e46 tourer 318 sport is this right? What's the difference between the two? Is it a difficult DIY install? And what's peoples opinions on the upgrade?

I've got one of these to go in my E30 race car:

Part number ends in 067 and (as can be seen from the photo) it has a purple tag. These racks are 3 turns lock to lock. There shoudn't be any issues swapping it over on your E46 as that is the car it was designed for

Changing it should be a doddle as there isn't a sump or anything like that in the was like there is on an E30.
