Hi new to the site so go easy!!

So my '02 330i sport touring failed MOT on rear broken springs - and after searching on here realised this was fairly common!
no biggy as another search also recommended the Eibach Pro set.

So ordered a set and installed the rears only yesterday.

The drivers side is about 25mm lower than the passenger side - I haven't been very far or over any speed bumps as it has no MOT [ booked in on Monday 4th ]

This didn't seem right so this morning I removed the passenger spring completely and reinstalled, checked the drivers side and that looked exactly the same at rest and on the mounting points.

All nuts tightened and it's still different.

So what could it be - I have to confess I didn't take any notice before the springs were installed and both original rears were broken by different amounts ??

I'm not doing the fronts yet and the chassis doesn't look mullered or bashed??

Just after any advice or what to check next [ and I have no problem if it's my goof just want it even ]

I haven't yet checked tyre pressures.....

    thanks

    Darren

The springs looked the same in the box - I didn't actually try them side by side but it was a new spring set and the springs looked the same colour ect- that might be next. The fronts are much different so it isn't that.

as it's easy I might try swapping the springs over to see if the 'sag' moves? I'll jack it up on the diff carrier and have both sides off at the same time............

    thanks

anyone if the height difference stays when I swap the springs - ie it isn't the spring what the likely cause would be?

if it does move then I'll ring the spring supplier.........

    thanks

can only think it might be a dislocated spring carrier...any update on this yet?

mmm not convinced.so we're saying the e46 has a factory lean?

if so what part is causing this. I had to help bro-in-law this afternoon so the swapping is on in the cold morning light.

the turner motorsports link is for a pair when you get it slightly lower than expected with the springs.

something must be bent or worn...I might see if i can get this up on stands tonight now...need to find my wheel chocks.

mark - how do you mean. I triple checked the rubber mounts and made sure they fitted - cleaned the bottom arm too in case the accumulation of crud was a factor....

maybe the bottom arm is bent?

well if they are ok they are ok
cant see the arm being bent enough for the problem you are describing.
did you manage to swap the springs over?

if the springs you took out were the same length then all should be as it was before???
