I was forced the other night to do a full on (from 50mph) emergancy stop and swerve out of the way of some silly berk who decided to stand on her brakes because she had missed her turning...

    missed her by a whisker!

Any way.. I was driving along the motorway the day after and momentarily me steering wheel began to vibrate... for about 5 seconds then went away and hasnt done it since...

As the tittle says... can you warp discs by doing what i was forced to do or was it probably something else that caused the vibrating?

were you braking when the steering wheel started vibrating?, it could have just been something on the road
im not so sure you can warp discs from one emergency stop at 50 unless they were pretty fecked but i think you would have to have done a few emergency stops to warp them

does the vibration start at a certain speed when travelling along? and does it continue right up through the speed from then on,or maybe even carry on and then stop again after a certain higher speed?

First thing i'd do is get your wheels balanced at a decent tyre centre, people have them done when a new tyre is fitted but as the tyre ages through wear,kerbs/potholes get clippd etc the tyre changes shpe slightly causing the need for rebalancing, this will cause unexpected vibraion when travelling along freely

I'd say it's not possible and if it had warped then you would still be experiencing symptoms since

Agreed. The brakes wont warp unless they repeatedly get over hot.

    Uh oh!

My mate used to rag his little clio around desolate car parks on industrial estate at night and then pour cold water onto the brakes afterwards.

    Naughty boy!
