    Hi peeps

Changed power steering pump and rack on my E36 316i Compact today and got a bit of a problem........

The pump outlet pipe(to the rack) is loose in the housing ie I can move it up and down 10mm. I then checked the original pump and the depth to the shoulder is just 10mm. Removed the pipe from recon pump and measured the depth-it is 20mm.I guess Ive found why the pipe was loose.

The two pumps are different in this aspect only.

I will be ringing the shop up in the morning to see if they can rectify the problem.
Has anyone else ever had the same problem
    It was an LUK pump

    Boyo

Pump now on after changing the output/pressure valve housing from my one to the new one. lot of messing about putting both pumps back in the brackets and refitting to the car.Just to undo the housing-damm it was tight, nearly pulled my bench over so used me head and put them back in car to undo.
    All sorted now
Supplier said all the LUK ones he has in his workshop are the same as the one he sent me so he advised me to swap the bits over.
Not sure about giving people a recomendation on here but if anyone needs a powersteering rack or pump PM and I'll give you details

    Cheers
    Boyo
