I oppologise if this is duplicated but i can't find the thread i posted yesterday asking the question. i have pm'ed a mod early this morning so if the other thread turns up 1 of these can be deleted
First of all i have ordered 2.8 discs to go with some new pads, i have got the carriers that go with the 2.8 set up. however the rears are a little confusing, firstly the discs as i expectedthe 328 rear discs are listed as 296mm as opposed to the 276mm of the 323. so by that i know the pads are the same but the carriers should be different to accept the larger disc, how ever the carriers are listed as the same???? so how does that work? fronts are bigger with different carriers, rears are bigger but the same caliper/carriers and pads...
    how can that work?

    294mm not 296mm....

there's 2 different carriers for the rear and one of them is the same for 323 and 328 but that carrier comes with the 294mm discs setup anyway on both the 323 and 328 but its an E46 model thing which one has which..

the other type carrier comes with the 276mm discs only...

UK/euro 323 saloons and verts (not coupes) can have 294mm disc and carrier setup already for some reason to do with potential load weight i think..

to sum up they (the carriers) aint the same! your car(a 323 coupe) i think has 276mm discs and carriers, and you will be fitting the same setup thats on some 323 UK saloons and verts (294mm discs and carriers) and 328's...

I have a e46 323 saloon and have just ordered brake discs for it, sizes FR - 286 - 22 and R - 276 - 19. Will this be ok? Its what came up on Real oem as the disc size for my vehicle. Im just a bit concerned now as you mentioned about the different sizes (bigger) for extra load. I did see those sizes FR - 300 - 22 and R - 294 - 19. Be grateful if you knew if the smaller sizes are gonna fit right. or do both? Thanks, Steve.

you see i looked at all the info on realoem and www.bmmimiparts.co.uk and they both said the carriers for the 323 and 328 are the same number? i got a full carrier set from a 328 from quarry earlier in the year, the fronts were easy to do as the discs are 300mm and the carriers are different, but the rears listed a bigger disc for the 328 but the same carrier as mine on the 276mm? thats whats confusing me! the first diagram is for the 323ci, and the second is for the 328.

It is confusing, im going to have to try and fit mine and hope theyre right, if not it will be a case of sending them back for the right sized discs. hopefully I wont have to.
