I recently bought a '99 e36 318is and it's a little 'soggy' when changing direction quickly. e.g. if i swerve at anything over 50mph ish it feels pretty unstable and you have to hold on to it a fair bit! I can see it going sideways in a bad way quite easily!

I have an incling it may be the rear beam bushes at fault but have yet to get it in the air to have a look. Am I right in thinking there are 4 bushes on the e36 rear sub frame? 2 front and 2 rear? I'm more familiar with e30s and know they only have 2 bushes. Will I be better off changing all 4?

Also, if these bushes do turn out to be the culprits, where's best to get decent replacement ones and how much (roughly) would a garage charge to fit them?

    Thanks in advance...

If you are talking about the rear stabiliser bar, then you have two bushes and two drop links.

I was thinking bush sets 2 & 3 on the diagram below - is that what you meant?

Would bush sets 2 & 3 below be a likely cause of the symptoms I described above??
