    Hi Guys,
I have asked this question before elswhere but to no straight forward reply,
I have 225/40 18" alloys all round and am currently going to invest in a full coilover rig but question is will the wheels rub the coilovers and the arches when lowered 40mm all round in any of the arches!
I look farward to you insight
    Jamie

i have the same size wheel and tyre and have dropped mine 30 front 15mm rear and the rears rub only a little, so 40 - 40 i would say the rear aches will need to be rolled

Thanks mate how does yours look now I ask as mine currently looks like it's ass is a mile in the air haha!

Did you drop with coilovers or did you use a a pre set lowering kit like koni? i ask as like a mentioned I think the coilover is wider than standard or replacement suspension kits!
    Thanks again
    Jamie

you must be a mind reader koni sports suspension kit mate, the coilover side would bepend on what off set your wheels are? what alloys are they

here's a picture of my car, the rears do look lower than the 15mm i would say they are around a 30mm drop

I have the same size wheels and tyres and a -40mm bilstien b6 suspension kit on my 318is and its fine, although i added negative camber to the rear wheels (easy to do, just adjust one bolt on the rear hub) to avoid any scraping.

However negative camber does wear through the inner half of the tyre a lot quicker.

Nice one gents I feel a suspension kit is a better place to be for me rather than a coilover kit as I will get that wheel clearence I want from the suspension itself and the body will then drop to the wheels if I am speaking any English haha! I have a set of M3 double spoke MV2's mate got them off a friend I love them

your cars look mint by the way

    regards Jamie

Here is a pic of my old 318is coupe (as long as it works!!).
This was lowered about 30mm and had 18's on it, these tyres didnt scrub at all but the MV2's that it has now do on full lock.
As previously mentioned though I did have to get the camber adjusted because of the size of the wheels which then wears the inside edge of the tyres.
