    It's unlikely you'll be able to open it out without heating it a lot, and that could cause problems all over the spring.

    Cutting a coil off might help, as it will already be expecting the iron block 325 engine on top, so it'll be sitting high when you fit it anyway.
    Cut too much off, and it'll become a danger if it can fall out, and it might make it too stiff also.

    I think you're better off getting the right m52 springs first off that work fine out of the box, and then selling on the early 325 springs as a rare and hard to get item.
