    Hiya

New to the site and already have a problem to share!

There is something wrong with my bimmer the driver side wheel area. A few months ago i could drive around once with 5 of us in the car, now it wont even have 1 passenger without it scraping.!! So I have banned passengers lol and now banned myself from driving it as of yesterday.

It is lowered 60mm on the rear and at first my friends fella thought it was the springs (through experience as he's owned millions of bimmers) so i ordered 2nd hand springs off ebay and Dave took my car apart to find the springs on it look brand spanking new and aren't broke

All i can explain is the arch r/d/s covers more of the wheel compared to the r/p/s it just sits lower. Not only that but it is constantly scraping on the tyre wall and when the handbrake is on the tyre is actually touching the rear bumper and body work of the car. My friend noticed that that wheel sticks out alittle too much so he is bit confused thinking the camber needs adjusting as negative as possible.

So booked today and thursday off work to get it sorted. Popped into a local garage and they gonna get it up on the ramps thursday.

Anyone got any ideas? i just ho it dont cost too much

    Cheers

    Lucie

Maybe if you can get you friend to take a couple of pics and then post them up. We might be able to recognise what's been fitted

i have a similar problem, on the left rear side, the tire rubbs agains the metal, on the inner side of the fender, especially at bumps or right corners. not to mention that if i have passangers in the backseat, it's gonna rubb almost constantly. weird part is, it's only the left side of the car rubbing, the right one has no probs. i tried replacing springs/dampers with no results. any ideas, folks? i'm thinking of a possible crooked/bent trailing arm, coz this kinda poped up after a friend of mine lost control and spinned the car, hitting pretty hard the concrete things on the side of the road.

i took a quick look at arms and rear suspension, but at the first glance, everything seems to be ok. dunno. i guess i'll start replacing things and see what happens. now i have some 16"s on it and i have no prob, due to the ET. i'll go for some coilovers these days and maybe replace the bushes with powerflex ones and see what happens when i put the 17"s back.

i think it would be an idea to have the car 4 wheel aligned (to sort camber) and ask the guy doing it to see if there are any bent components tbh
i can recommend powerflex rear bushes over stock rubber stuff anytime

i did the alignment and everything, front and rear, still the same. i'll just wait to finish upgrading the suspension first, the give it another try with 17"s.
