    Hey

I have a problem with the tracking on my car. I took it to a local garage to have 4 wheel tracking carried out. ALL 4 wheels were out. The fronts were tracked straight but when it came to the rears they couldn't track them? My passenger rear wheel is severely toe in with no obvious way to adjust it. The bushes all seem good. I have a rear wheel bearing making some sound but it is the driver one..

When im driving, the steering wheel is turned to the right but the car tracks straight. I had the same problem on my 335 when i hit a curb and snapped the hub in half on my passenger rear wheel. Hub replaced and it straightened the steering wheel up. I can not find any problems with the suspension or bushes but also can not find a way to adjust the toe angle! I have spoken to BMW but all they said was to take it to them for tracking and they want over £250 for it!

Any one experienced these sorts of symptoms or have any idea what could be causing this??

    Dale

Had this problem on a compact I had, n/s/r wheel was toe in/positive camber. The toe can be adjusted with the 3 18mm bolts on bottom of the RTAB carrier IIRC and you'll need to get camber adjustable rear arms. Well thats what I was told, never did it in the end because I sold the car.

your car can be adjusted at rear you need to find a garage local to yourself with a corghi laser adjustment machine as even if the operator has not done the vehicle before it has step by step guide with pictorial as to how to adjust the rears and previous comment you can buy adjustable rear arms to help correct your camber especially if the car is lowered unfortunatly bmw and mercedes scrub tyres nature of the beast there is a reason cars are set up with neg cambers hope this helps any further questions feel free to ask
p.s just quick thought they did do a weight simulation in the car? if not the car will not giv correct measurement to begin with also it should have full tank of juice and be measured front and back for ride height as again that will affect reading as will any mods ie wheels.........

The camber is very slightly adjustable on the standard set up with an off centre drilled washer in a horse shoe shaped bracket but adjustment is minimal.

The garage i took it to did not weight the car (They told me it was supposed to be done but i didn't fancy paying BMW £250 for tracking so i let them give it a shot any way).

I brought the car about 3 weeks ago and the tracking was out when i brought it.

The camber is fine its just the toe angle that is out.

I am going to wait until i get new wheels b4 i get the tracking done again but i was just wondering if there is a cheaper way to get this done. I know a few more high end garages that i can try but most i know off don't do the weight simulation :(

Have a search on this www.alignmycar.co.uk it'll show you your local place which has the hunter machine.

Just for your information I paid £65 with adjustments at my local place a year ago. Took them just over an hour and highly recommended place (even though they specialise in tyres and exhausts )
