Well today brought grinding noises at just under 30mph and just under 40mph when accelerating only......

    Any further opinions?

Took the back suspension apart today:

    Springs not broken

    Spring pads in place

    Top mounts in good condition

Drivers side shock very very slow to return to length after being compressed - and didn't return to full length compared to passenger side shock. At least 15cm shorter.

Going to order a pair of new shocks, these Hot Tuning rear shocks are poor to say the last - this is the 2nd failure in a year.

Any thoughts on this being the cause of the problem?

Stripped mine down on thursday, could just push it straight down with minimal pressure and took an age to return. Will look to upgrade in a month or so backs then fronts,

    Cheers

I have a similar problem, just waiting for my mate to have a quiet day in his workshop so i can use the 2 poster to have a look, I have replaced the front lollipop bushes so can't see it being them, my main symptoms is the rear end occasionally feels like it's steering the car like something's loose on the back end when I turn a corner, I have read on here about the subframe bolts strippin but i'm hoping it ain't that serious and is just some bushes of some kind, I'm fresh to e36's so am learning as i go
