    Hi
    can anyone help, i have a N reg 316 compact, and the brake light warning came on , so i chnaged the discs and pads bleed the brakes and i still have the bloody brake light on . i have been told to that i need a new sensor or as a quick fix cut the sensor off and tie the two ends together( on passengerfront) , this hasnt worked either?? is there any other problems that may cause this problem?

    any help

    there is a reset procedure to make the light go out,but...tbh the light should be out by the morning anyway
    what i've felt,what i've known
    never shined through in what i've shown.

    possible brake stop light switch could need replaced.

    I believe he is talking about the pad wear sensor light. To OP, have you tried to reset it by turning the key to IGN position II without starting, and leaving it for a couple of minutes or so after fitting new sensor/s? Two sensors on your car...front NS and rear OS if you have discs all round.

    That would be the handbrake light. To OP, what colour is this light you are talking about?

    I reset my light, having changed the pad wear sensor, by setting ign key to position 2, turning cruise control on, and then pressing and holding the resume button for 2-3 secs until the light goes out. If you've tied the wires together, this will work.

    If you don't have cruise, and nothing else works, disconnect the battery for 10 mins and this will clear the light, but may also reset other stuff, like the ECU map? Don't know, as I never had to do this on mine.

    HI thanks , i'll try and reset by turning to Pos 2 and leaving for a while .

    Its a round Red light with dots on the outer rim , Fluid Res is OK.

    No discs at back , just drums .. and been a couple of days alrready ..


    Thanks for all you help .
    First ill try the reset option , then i'll try the battery ,
