Hi Al - Hopeful for some advice about improving the handling of my budget track day car (that also gets me to & from work).
eBay special haggling got me a 1994 325i for £675. Original factory fitment Alpina suspension. Now pretty soggy, but rest of car is good. Engine and box are unbelievably smooth (I've never owned a BMW before).
We try to do one track day a month - now using my 325 daily driver.
When taken to local 4-wheel alignment garage, they didnt need to put any ballast in the car because it was already lower than the specific set-up ride height. We decided that the dampers had seen far far better days. No idea which springs are on there.
My question is - do I go for coilovers, or, do I keep springs and replace the dampers.
I see the tantalisingly priced Hottuning kit seems good for lowering, but am unsure about ability on regular trackdays. Any experience from members? Currently thinking about m-tec, or similar dampers.
Very grateful for advice from the trackday regulars. Note - I'm a cheapskate!
