Hi I've just bought some FK coilovers for my e36. 325i
Now am I being thick or do you need to buy new top mounts for the fronts as my shocker won't come through the top bearing/mount enough to get the nut on.???
Any help please
It's recommended you changed the top mounts when fitting new coilovers but it shouldn't be necessary to get a different part altogether..
If i'm reading what you've said correctly I think it's just a case of pushing down on the coilover as hard as you can and getting someone else to put the top mount on (or use a spring compressor :thumbsup)
I'll try get a pic up.
baisically the end of the shocker where it goes from bright steel to a turned end (smaller diameter) that end bit ain't long enough to go through my original top bearing. Even with no spring on the coilover.
I've been doing some research and it seems that as my car is an early 1992 model it had a different top mount set up.
The top mount and bearing spring top mount is all one piece.
Soon as you undo the nylock nut on the top mount, the whole thing comes off.
Not as the slightly later ones where it is built up in layers thus the actuall top bearing being much shallower.
