    Hey guys,

I was talking to a mate of mine about tuning my engine and he suggested fitting a supercharger from a new mini.Is this possible and has anyone done it?

    Any help would be awesome.

    Hi Dan,

I honestly think you would be waaaaaay better off doing an engine transplant from a 325i or a 328i.

More power and reliability than you will ever get from a 1.6 sc lump and about 1/4 the price

it is possible you could make a mini supercharger fit, however it would need custom brackets making, a custom belt, custom chargecooling (if possible), custom engine remap

    and more....

And that all adds up to a lof of $$$$$

Instead, I would advise getting an E36 325i or 328i engine from a breakers complete with gearbox and engine mounts etc With wiring loom and ECU.

If you search the forum a bit you will find some big threads with lots of info in

dan21, remember this... when it comes to cars and modifying almost anything is possible.

The two main factors that will stand in your way are time and money (lot's of it)

I'm with boostist all the way

    Bingo

I should have made it clearer...

IT CAN be done...but its not worth doing, because the routes above are so much better

    Cheers guys,

think a trip to the breakers is on the cards. I thought it would be costly. A lad i work with had his 325 E30 featured in Performance BMW a few issues back and in the last issue. So I have to make it better than his. The paint scheme is already planned but thats the cheapest part for me.

E30 325 is totally different to an E36.

Mine has been featured in PBMW and Redline and very heavily modified and I guarantee you that there are still people that would prefer his over mine just because it's an E30 and Vice Versa.

You can't compare the two, they are both fine examples of German Engineering

Have you checked out the Gallery???

Why is your mate not a member

Yep, I'm a painter, so I don't have to part with more than the cost of paint.
He's one of those BMW elitist types.
I know what you mean, while I like the E30's old school shape I prefer the E36.

    Hi Lads,

I tell you what, with Gordon putting such high demands on us for fuel tax and vehicle tax I think hes on to a good point, if you get a 1.6-1.8 and supercharger it your looking at around about a 30-40% INCREASE in power!

The goverment are blind to FI so you still pay for the 1.8 not te 2.8, and have a little below the power output, YOu can also make the supercharger turn off with a A?C pulley so you can afford to drive,

I reckon this is defently the way to go!
