    I have read countless e46 328 and 330's running on stock internals on various forums with no complaints.

    IT depends how hard your pushing it, for around £5k you have have them pushing to the 280-290 mark on stock internals - however it is then you have the platform to take it 350 plus (cam's, pistons etc) but thats when you spend 5k on a car and 20k tuning it!

    Personally I am looking at the charge route and aiming for 300 BHP, but that could be a few years from now!

    The stock BMW internals can easily handle the power limits of the standard engine management systems, even with chips and the like. Once you go past these power levels you'll need to look at uprating everything else.
