    Ha. This looks awesome.
FYI all South African Spec E36s have the battery in the boot
in addition our 318i models have the M42 motor, and the 318is has the M44 motor

Wonder why they are different? I wish the batt. was in the boot, would have made wiring for the sounds a lot simpler!

    Wow this sounds amazing.
How much did you pay for this kit?
Anybody Else thinking about getting it?
I too have been searching for a kit for my e30.

A little update. I know, it's been a while, mainly because work has been mad for weeks and also DIY and helping a mate clear a house has taken up most of my spare time!

It turns out that there is not enough room in the engine bay for a smaller throttle body plenum. This is due to how the s/c sits in the engine bay, the width of the stock throttle body and the amount of room available to make a plenum with a suitable 90 degree bend. So the only solution is to move the battery into the boot to free up space in the engine bay.

Sounds fairly simple, but I've been looking into it and its a bit complicated to do it right (i.e. as if it left the factory with the battery in the boot). You need all the bits from a suitable 6 cylinder donor car to do it right:

    - Battery cable itself, plus making a note of how it routes through the car
    - Battery clamp and bolt
    - Battery cover
    - Boot trim (round the o/s wheelarch) for routing cable plus fixings
    - Plastic conduit for threading cable through seats plus fixings
    - Firewall / bulkhead rubber grommets (very important to prevent chafing - oor err missus)
    - Distribution block in engine bay
    - Distribution block mountings (the welded studs it was mounted to on the o/s front strut tower arent present on my car - may have to fabricate something)
    - Cables from distribution block - to starter motor, to fuse box, to ecu relay, to some random crimped connection in wiring loom tray
    - Wiring loom tray (with extra holes for the cables)
    - Wiring loom tray cable weather seals.

I've found most of what I need from a breakers, some things I have forgotten and need to go back for (I always do that - I bet its in the crusher by the time i get back there!). Others I might need to order from the main stealer!

Whilst installing all that lot, I'll do the fuel pump at the same time while she's all powered down. I hope to get on this soon, but I need a break this weekend to be honest - I'll mostly be in the pub! Hope to get round to spending some decent time on the car soon.

Thanks for having a look, comments / opinions welcome!

Not really sure how much in total mate, it been in bits and pieces and over a long period! I guess I can try and add it all up at the end of the project...
M44 in a 1502 sounds great, have you got a project thread?
