Hi there ive got a 328 e46 on a 1999 t plate with the m52 engine. it is totally standard and done 90000 miles. im interested in either turbo or superchargeing it. and just wondering which would be best/easiest? also what would have to be done to the ECU ( ive herd you can just disconnect the air mass meter!?) would the standard injectors be ok? any help would be great thanks.

Super chargers are more common for a e46 if I recall correctly. A kit would be approx £4700 non fitted

As with many things to do with making cars fast..
A lot of it comes down to your budget mate

Neither route is cheap.... but £ per hp turbos offer more bang for your buck

There is a bolt on kit for the 330i from Technique tuning in the USA and I think it would fit the 328i but would need a remap.
Nick Glantzis who makes the kit could do that no problem as he is a god of ECu tuning!!

Cost I would say would be £7k unfitted and imported over here.
With fitting and further mods make it £9k+

but you would have 450 hp at the engine after install, so would pound on many 'expensive' supercars.

A supercharger is a good option if you want linear power (as in more thru all the RPM range) but it in my opinion is more problematic often as it has belts that can slip/break and bearings that wear.

Turbo on the other hand has no moving parts apart from the turbines which are bearing mounted but the life of them is many thousands of miles and they tend to be more reliable once setup

I have been looking into kits from america for the E36 M3 non evo, looking at around $9000 for a kit that can get you 400bhp at the wheels, obviously you need to get it fitted which is going to cost a grand easy I should think. So wait for the £ to get better against the $ and start spending. Thats what I am waiting for.

    Seen a supercharged E46 M3 csl apparently running near 500bhp. Driven b5s alpina E60 v8 s/charged now that was fast 570bhp leaves M5 easily.
