    Supercharged Z3 1.9, I was that man!
The kit itself is an easy conversion and takes a weekend to fit. In standard trim 6psi it gives around 190hp. Above that pressure it gets hot and the standard clutch gives up. It's a great conversion, good instant power, good economy off boost and makes a great noise. My insurance went up about £150.

Hmm, definetly think supercharging the m44 is a better idea than transplanting an m3, brakes - not a problem, the rad, I'll most likely upgrade it to a bit bigger (nothing too oversized

well I'll most likely get my mechanic to fit it for me, (saves me getting it wrong lol)

it's coming up to my birthday soon anyways, so there will be the cash to buy the kit at end of July as my birthday is on payday so I can afford it no problems lol

also got my motorbike I'll be selling at end of month too, and tbh.. The money from that is going on the car lol

what power is yours roughly pushing 230?? I'll be using the car at crail and want it to go how it looks
318is M3 Rep project with some extra power : M3 LTW's, M-tec boot badge, rear window spoiler, Black kidney grills, smoiked fogs and indicators

Still to get: BBTB, Catback magnex, Decat, Apex RDX coilovers, M3 mirrors, H.I.D's, Remap

Standard kit at 6psi gives about 190hp. I spent alot of time and money to get it to 230hp. Main limitation is air temp and no intercooling

Haaving a think over this and im pretty sure its the route im wanting to go down

I was gona spend it doing the car naturaly aspirated but.. I would aim for 170bhp there and it wont be enough for me.

Mark, the brakes on the bmw at the moment have great stoping power, and im gona be upgrade them to vented disks with greenstuff' pads'

The cooling problem as you said.. Yes, im gona take your side and say thats going to be a big problem, the car runs at half temp when urnning anyways, and im unsure of a way past that, i.e a unaversal radiator big enough to cope but NOT over-do it, so I can drive along normally and its not too cool, but when I plant the foot, I dont want it too hot either.

Ko performance say their kits (2 seperate) can get the engine to over 300bhp, tbh.. Id look at running something shy of that, which is m3 teritory but dont sound like an m3 - thats the only downpoint, but transplanting a new engine from an m3 just means more money and more work.

The cooling issue is not only water temp, but exhaust temp as well. I run a new standard alloy rad with a new metal impeller water pump and no thermostat, coupled with an electric fan. Water temp ran fine with this. Exhaust was stainless and the manifold could do with wrapping to keep engine bay temp down.

Anything over 10psi of boost you really start needing an intercooler to keep charge temp down, or go water or meth injection.

As for the noise, far better than an M3 ! the whine of the supercharger is fantastic

I have been doing more research and finding places that do kits, I've came across a turbo kit (t3 turbo kit, so turbo is a bit crap but can do 28psi maximum, but wouldn't go that high anyways..)

The supercharger whine would sound good, but the turbo would sound a hell lot nicer when I go into boost

I'm struggling to choose between them, as either way, it will be getting some form of a charger in July

turbo doesn't really make any noise as its driven off the exhaust. not sure what you mean there ? !!

the turbo will deliver more power for the same boost level as there are no drive losses (as with the supercharger)

Get some decent books on forced induction and have a read up first. it will help your understanding of whats involved
