It doesn't drone exactly , more of a growl! But it peaks at 107dba at 3/4 max rpm so it's to loud for track days too
Totally exellent Mark.
I think with all that power and no weight it's a bit of a beast.
You said your injectors are almost maxed out. is that 80% at full WOT maxed , or do you really mean they are maxed out. What are your ideas on next injectors size / brand.
Any chance you could get a few runs on vid, so we can see what it sounds like. ( eh !!! ) LOL.
So what's next ??
Cheers and good luck.
Well to be frank i took the exhaust off last night, need to replace it with something more sane, its 107dba is too loud. need to source a replacement now rather than build one.
Going to fit an oil catch tank next and re-feed the injectors on the air side, tidy it up a bit. bought all the parts just need to fit them.
Injectors are close to maxing out Donutman1. so i will think about that over the winter. probably buy some in from the states
Well i sourced a replacement and ARGHHHHHH !
fitted the exhaust , and it was also to loud, its not my week !!
I am sure the s/c makes the car louder, especially now running at 10psi boost
So now i decided to start again. i ripped the old/new/replacement exhaust off right back to the cat/manifold.
Started again.. this time i have offset the centrebox from the cat to help centralise it down the tunnel. Moved it over by approx 1inch. this has helped alot.
nice offset has worked a treat
the existing silencers are glass packed and work on absorption of sound, i thought i'd change tack this time and go for a baffle box at the end. an american box, Flowmaster, uses baffles to reflect the sound and cancel soundwaves/frequencies.
Now for the tricky bit, mount, cut, tack, remove, weld, repeat.
will take some tim to get this correct again, want to be totally happy this time. I made sure i have enough 2.5" stainless bends and offsets
lets hope this time its a trifle quieter ... ie less than 107dba

Looked into this conversion for my 318is E36, Never got it though as my car got wrote off. :( Nice to see one about.
looks like you have your work cut out for you!..
I was thinking - would it be an option to use a backbox from an existing model with a slightly larger bore i.e. a 330 or M3?? or are these bores too small also?
its not the bore of the box that is the issue. its two-fold
1 resistance or backpressure in the box
2 weight of the box
the 'performance' style boxes are lighter and have less backpressure.
considerably lighter i might add. i will weigh them tonite and let you know. also the stainless is alot more durable than mild steel
Great. Cant wait to here more! I got the M44 Engine and you have made it look so easy to S/C it!
