i have a e36 316i compact and have got a spare engine for it in bits in my garage (i work for an engine builders) i am very tempted to supercharge this either with a mini super charger or ive heard the mercedes ones are quite popular in the bm world. with everything like this i know theres two ways to do it. a proper way to do this i.e what we would do for customers at work, new parts and better performance but a lot of money. and the second which i prefer cheap, scrapyard builds that still will give you that good kick in power on a budget. i know its been done before but im new to the bm scene so i wonder if theres anyone out there that could point me in the right direction either a forumn or just a thread etc
    thanks

mini charger is not big enough, maybe a merc 230K chargeer might be, but its grafting it onto a manifold and getting the belts to line up and work correctly.

worth a go on a spare engine, i would have thought a turbo install , with the engine out, on a budget, might be the way to go.

turbo does sound easier to me too...

not sure either can really be done properly on the cheap tho. best bhp/£ by far is NOS... and with a spare engine...sounds ideal to me

a second hand T3 turbo, exhaust manifold from the states and some random plumbing and a cheap intercooler and you might have something that could hold together.

there are turbo kits available from the states, cheap to, maybe a starting point
