I have a question, would it be possible to use the turbo/ intercooler from a 330d in the 330 petrol ???? Compression ratio probably wouldn't be ideal but at low boost, say 5psi the engine could be left standard?

Probably ridiculous idea, would need the manifold to fit as well?

There is a very small chance that you have stumbled on something that did not even occur to the BMW engineering/design team.

The radiator would need to be changed as well, the intercooler is loosely embedded in to it on the diesel models. The factory fit intercooler can handle up to 1.5bar and has a temperature sensor built in to the induction pipes but connects to the EGR/Manifold using a rubber hose/jubilee clip. The MAP sensor on M47/57 engines is located in the inlet manifold and you would have to find a place for a blow off valve as the diesel engines don't have one (no butterfly flap thottle!)

What level of boost does the stock 330 diesel turbo run at? Sounds like it might be possible with a lot of mucking around. Would you need more than a remap to get it working- piggy back or better?

I might look into it a bit further

the 330d turbo would not be very suitable for a petrol 3.0 and the manifold will not fit.

it´s custom manifold/turbo or nothing really.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

you would do better to try and fit the supercharger from a mini! less hassle and easier i would have thought, and cheaper long rum, bmw's love superchargers.

Sounds promising. I have heard about the possibility of using the Mini supercharger but how would you get around the inline 6/ straight 4 configuration issue. Custom made inlet manifold?
