this is just some thing i have been thinking about recently, i would like to turbo my e36 323. i am wondering what parts i need and what needs up grading?
i work in a salvage yard so can probably get my hands on a decent turbo, intercooler and boost guage. i know i will need to buy an exhaust manifold and various piping to connect it all.
will i need to upgrade the head gasket? and what about the ecu?

you will need to learn to search or pay someone to do it for you.
You can turbo the standard engine. Just depends what sort of power your after
You will need to tune it

it would be cheaper to sell yours and buy an e36 m3, that way you have the correct brakes, suspension, interior and engine!!! 280-290bhp for 3.5-4k. try and make a 323 have that much power/handleing and braking for that little money.

as above, unless you are very handy with a spanner and know exactly what you are doing then it will cost £3-4k for a turbo conversion.
you can buy a good M3 for that and wont blow up on you.

It would never be reliable enough unless you spend at least 20k and replace all the engine internals,,,,

I don't have a clue on this subject but I'm debating on turbo'ing my m52b28.
People told me standard internals are ok to 500bhp and providing there mapped they are reliable.
I was also told that with parts your only talking £5,000 to £6,000 to get it start to finish including mapping?
Like I said I ain't a clue; just what I've been told on this...

i dont understand, why are people saying dont do it, i would if i had time as theres nothing like pulling up at the side of a m3 with a 323 turbo and blow them away, plus it should be positive answers as he posted in the turbo section. do it, you can buy a kit for £720ish off ebay then see about management
